Andrew Powell: Physiotherapist

Andrew Powell

Andrew completed his Masters at Glasgow Caledonian University to become a Chartered Physiotherapist in 2004. After qualifying, Andrew, worked at Addenbrooke’s Hospital before moving into private practice. He currently works at South Cambridge Physiotherapy, Stansted and Shelford Rugby Club.

His main area of interest is in the treatment and prevention of Sports Injuries and is a member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Sports Medicine.

Andrew completed his first degree in Sport and Exercise Science, specialising in Biomechanics. He later lectured in Applied Sport and Exercise Biomechanics at the University of Surrey, Roehampton.

Andrew has experience of working in a wide variety of sports. These include rugby, swimming, body building, tennis and rowing. Within these sports Andrew has worked with athletes ranging from junior to senior levels as well as club to national level. A detailed knowledge of anatomy, physiology and biomechanics helps physiotherapists to make informed decisions about the management and rehabilitation of injuries.

Patients can be assessed and advised on expected recovery times to full activity. Rehabilitation programmes can be designed and progressed whilst working with coaches to maintain cardiovascular fitness.
